北京交通大學（簡稱北京交大，Beijing Jiaotong University），于1896年始建，坐落于北京市，是中國教育部直屬的全國重點大學，由教育部、交通運輸部、北京市人民政府、中國國家鐵路集團有限公司共建，位列“211工程”“985工程優勢學科創新平台”“世界一流學科建設高校”。其前身是清政府創辦的北京鐵路管理傳習所。 該校入選“高等學校創新能力提升計劃”、“高等學校學科創新引智計劃”、“卓越工程師教育培養計劃”、“國家建設高水平大學公派研究生項目“、“新工科研究與實踐項目”、”中國政府獎學金來華留學生接收院校”，是北京高科大學聯盟、中俄交通大學聯盟成員高校。 北京交通大學作為交通大學的三個源頭之一，是中國第一所專門培養管理人才的高等學校，是中國近代鐵路管理、電信教育的發祥地；1921年參與合并組建交通大學；1923年更名為北京交通大學；1970年恢複使用“北方交通大學”校名；2003年恢複使用“北京交通大學”校名。
