1、煙機自身帶有出風止逆閥，利用煙機開啟時的風力吹開閥片，煙機關閉時依靠閥片重力遮斷通風道而關閉。
2、建築物采用變壓式或主副式共用煙道，利用油煙氣在主煙道中的流動使得在接入煙機口位置産生一定的負壓，把廚房裡空氣往煙道吸，防止油煙滲入廚房。
3、大部分住戶在煙道口往往還要加裝下垂式密閉閥，這種閥同樣依靠風力開啟、重力關閉，煙道内正壓越大，密閉越好。
