螳螂如果一沾水就死是與鐵線蟲有關，當鐵線蟲寄生在螳螂體内之後，隻要螳螂沾水這些寄生蟲就會在它的腹部中鑽出來。最後螳螂由于腹部的受傷而死，也會有一部分螳螂是沒有被寄生隻是在水裡待久淹死的。
鐵線蟲在螳螂體内非常的常見，并且鐵線蟲的身體非常的細長，長度可達到一米，寄生結束之後會在海水或者淡水中生活。
鐵線蟲又被稱為發形蛇，隸屬于線形動物。
