聚酯纖維是滌綸。聚酯纖維和滌綸是同一種衣服面料，隻是叫法上不同而已。聚酯纖維是國際上的稱呼，以其成分和構成物進行命名，滌綸是我國以種類定位的常用的商品名。
聚酯纖維是由有機二元酸和二元醇縮聚而成的聚酯經紡絲所得的合成纖維，屬于高分子化合物，最早由英國的Whinfield和Dickson于1941年研制成功。聚酯纖維堅牢耐用、抗皺免燙、不粘毛，主要用于衣着和室内裝飾，其最大的優點是抗皺性和保形性很好，具有較高的強度與彈性恢複能力。
